NORCAP Landfill - East Windsor, CT
Anchor Engineering Services has provided continuous services to NORCAP, Inc. since 1993. While the landfill was in operation, Anchor Engineering prepared ongoing operational plans, regulatory compliance reports and capacity analyses, waste disposal characterizations and authorizations and prepared closure design plans, specifications, state regulatory approval assistance, and construction administration for the closure construction project. Our work product included a DEP approved hydrogeologic investigation of the landfill plume, post-closure groundwater and surface water monitoring plans, and assistance with the acquisition of the areas of affected groundwater quality. Consultation services to the owners in negotiation and administration of a Consent Order with the Connecticut DEP were provided. For related companies, Anchor Engineering prepared plans for a 3.2 megawatt power plant fueled by landfill decomposition gas. Anchor Engineering worked with legal counsel to the gas plant company to obtain Connecticut Siting Council approval and interconnection agreements to the Northeast Utilities power distribution grid.
Willimantic Waste Paper Co, Inc. - Plainfield, CT
Transfer Station and Volume Reduction Plant on Roode Road in Plainfield, Connecticut, owned and operated by The Willimantic Waste Paper Co., Inc., is one of numerous similar facilities for which Anchor Engineering has designed and provided permitting and monitoring services. The scope of work we provided on this and other similar facilities includes land surveying, local wetland permitting, local zoning permitting, state DEP permitting, state-required compliance audits, stormwater monitoring services, and operational consulting. This facility has a state permit that allows the acceptance of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Construction and Demolition Debris (C & D), and recyclables. The recyclable material that can be collected under the permit includes waste oil, anti-freeze, street sweepings, old corrugated cardboard, old newspaper and over-issue newsprint, scrap metals, leaves and grass clippings, street sweepings, batteries, light bulbs including fluorescent lamps, commingle containers, plastics, aseptics, glass, untreated wood and brush and used electronics.
Waterford Landfill - Waterford, CT
Anchor Engineering Services completed the closure design plans, specifications and local and state regulatory approvals, and construction administration for the Waterford landfill closure construction project. The project included a hydrogeologic investigation of the landfill plume, post-closure groundwater and surface water monitoring plans, and assistance with the acquisition of the areas of effected groundwater quality. Consultation services to the Town of Waterford in negotiation and administration of a Consent Order with the Connecticut DEP were provided.
